I WOULD like to thank all those who took the trouble to vote in the traffic calming poll which was held in Bewdley.

However, on the day of the poll I was disappointed about the amount of fly posting of signs and leaflets erected by the opponents of the traffic calming scheme.

In the Hollow on Bark Hill six signs were erected, many fly posted.

The Hollow is the main road off the estate, it is a twisting, narrow, one way street. Pedestrians and mothers pushing push chairs often use it. As a consequence this road, which has no footpath along most of its length, is one of the roads that desperately needs traffic calming so it beggars belief that the protesters thought it safe to display their distracting signs.

On the previous four nights three signs were fly posted in this lane but I was pleased to see that someone had enough sense to pull them down each night.

Also on the day of the poll the town centre was disrupted by sewerage works.

There was a road works sign on the bridge warning motorists of this. The sign was partly obstructing the footpath and the road, alongside the sign were two men with protest placards.

These two men added to the obstruction of the footpath and were distracting drivers coming over the bridge. I informed the police about this and I hope that they arrived in time to give them both some advice.

There are still a few signs on telegraph posts and I hope the people who put them there will now take them down now that they have made their point.
