THE crackdown on crime has been stepped up across the county after a hotline which allows members of the public to pass information had its hours extended.
West Mercia Police, together with forces in Staffordshire, Warwickshire and West Midlands, will field Crimestoppers calls on a rota basis, enabling the hotline to operate in the evenings and at the weekend.
Under the system, one force will take calls to the hotline on behalf of all four forces for a week at a time, in a move which it hopes will lead to even more information leading to more arrests and charges.
Crimestoppers, which can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111, is available from 8am until 10pm during the weekdays and from 8am until 4pm at weekends.
