IN brilliant sunshine, loyal subjects of the Queen from three streets in Bewdley held an open-air party packed with entertainment.

Residents of All Saints Drive, Damson Way and Shaw Hedge Road chipped in £20 per household to create a dazzling party outside Wribbenhall Community Centre on Saturday.

About 300 people turned up to enjoy the two bouncy castles, bouncy slide, bungee run, five-a-side football, face painting and puppet show. George Davies paints 10-year-old Luke Halford's face during the Wribbenhall festivities.

The all-day bash also featured a best crown competition, music and a quiz and was rounded off with a barbecue and firework display.

"There were a lot of people there I had never seen before, but nobody was treated as a stranger.

"There was a fantastic community spirit," said Barbara Davies.
