He said: "Kidderminster is not dead! It goes to show if events are organised people will turn out.

"The streets were packed for the fireworks - they were even lining the ring road. We had up to 1,000 turn out for the Songs of Praise alone.

"We are so pleased with the support from the organisers and volunteers and from the public in turning out in such numbers we are considering holding an annual town festival.

"One thing is for sure, Kidderminster certainly played its part in the national celebration."

Kidderminster hosted the lion's share of jubilee events including open-air pop concerts showcasing district talent, karaoke, a Bavarian evening, children's parade and duck race.

However, folk from Cookley to Churchill and Blakedown to Far Forest had a right royal knees up celebrating with everything from fetes, flower festivals and tea-dances to a sea of street parties.

And it all ended with a bang on Monday night with the district's biggest ever fireworks show.
