A GANG of men attacked a lone man in a Worcester alley in broad daylight after he refused to hand over cash.

The 24-year-old man was kicked and punched and a £20 note was stolen, while he was walking along the alleyway, off Reservoir Lane, in Rainbow Hill.

Police said one of a group of seven or eight Asian men asked him for 20p but, when he said he did not have it, the men attacked him and then ran off towards the Tolladine/Brickfields area.

He was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital, following the attack at 3.30pm on Tuesday, and treated for facial injuries. He is now recovering at home.

"The man sustained facial injuries and the people who attacked him may well have had blood on their clothing," said PC Julie Merry.

"If anyone has any information about this attack, or thinks they may have seen something which would help our enquiries, contact me on 01905 723888, quoting reference c/592536."

The attackers are describ-ed as in their 20s, wearing a lot of jewellery, and all but two wore baseball caps.

The main offender is 6ft tall, and of medium build. He was wearing a light green shirt, a Nike blue hooded top, dark jeans, a grey Nike cap and new Air Max trainers.

He wore a thick gold neck chain and had gold rings on both hands and spoke with a West Midlands or Birmingham accent.
