THE old and the new will come together in a Worcester office development due for completion this summer.

The new Perdiswell Park office development will combine a modern, purpose-built office building with a refurbished, Grade II listed building.

The site sits next to the park-and-ride facility and enjoys views over Perdiswell golf course.

The focal point of the development is the 6,000sq ft Coach House, a Grade II listed building renovated to offer open-plan office space.

"The Coach House provides office accommodation within a secure landscaped setting in a very accessible location," said Andrew Venables, associate at international property advisers GVA Grimley, Birmingham, which is advising on the development.

Mr Venables said the development was only one-and-a-half miles from Worcester city centre and three miles from the M5.

"It also has the added advantage of access to public transport, as it's situated adjacent to the Worcester park-and-ride scheme," he said.

In addition to the Coach House, construction is underway on Attwood House, a state-of-the-art, steel and glass building to provide 13,000sq ft of office space.

The building has been especially designed to incorporate a part of the Coach House's walled garden, which is central to the development and includes a water feature.

Attwood House also boasts a curved roof, two large atriums and balconies off each of the three floors.

"The building is quite unusual," said Vanessa Webster, project architect at Glazzard Associates, the Worcester-based architects that designed it.

"There are lots of different angles that come together and lots of different materials. It doesn't intrude on the landscape at all - it's quite a light structure with loads of glazing. It's very light and airy inside and out."

She added there were curved, glazed meeting rooms and lovely views.

Attwood House, which also has on-site parking, is due for completion this summer. A further two office buildings are planned for Perdiswell Park, to be completed in two stages.

The Coach House already has a tenant. The National Care Standards Commission, which regulates social care provision, has taken a 15-year lease.

"On completion of Attwood House, Perdiswell Park will successfully combine the merits of old and new, to offer businesses a convenient, pleasant working environment," said Mr Venables.
