WICKHAMFORD'S Phili-ppa Turner continued her good form this season by winning a silver medal at the prestigious National Schools Regatta at Junior 15 level over a distance of 2,000m in Nottingham.
This event is probably the most difficult to win in the rowing calendar as all the best crews, including existing and hopeful GB rowers all attend.
Turner and partner Fern Cotterill cruised through the first round against light opposition to qualify for the semi-final.
This too proved to be a sterner test but the pair burst over the last 500m to edge out Headington School and qualify for the final alongside the only club in the final, Evesham A.
Henley had a good start and were leading after 500m with Wycliffe just up on Heading-ton A and Sir William Borlase.
This was the pattern for the next 1,000m. But, with 500m to go the Wycliffe double put a push in that Headington and SWB couldn't match to secure second place as Henley matched the challenge and remained a length ahead at the finish.
