DEAR EDITOR - I have just read with horror the suggestions made by Mr Bourne.

Most people in Droitwich Spa are grateful to the planners for having deferred the housing development for 10 years, as there are sufficient houses already built. Why does he think we should have an industrial estate right in the middle of one of the most beautiful areas of the county? Surely building for building's sake benefits no one.

I was born in Droitwich Spa and live near Copcut Lane, and in my garden see all sorts of wildlife, including Red Kites, Crested Newts and Woodpeckers. As Mr Bourne mentions, we already have first class communications with the motorways and rail networks - why move the city here? Why can't our children and we enjoy rural surroundings until the planners review date ?

If Mr Bourne feels happier surrounded by office and high-tech developments, however prestigious, surely he should consider re-locating to somewhere like Birmingham, and let those of us who love the town as it is to continue to enjoy it.

Mrs Gayle Price, Droitwich Spa.
