DEAR EDITOR - I feel that the time is right to write regarding the performances of Bromsgrove District Council.

In the 35 years that I have been kicking around this town, the council has come up with disaster after disaster then tried to put things right with their own brand of mismanagement.

For instance, in the late 1960's they decided to have a state of the art youth and sports centre which was put in New Road. Great in itself but then they put the swimming pool the other end of town, so that if you wanted to do more than one activity you had to wander all over town in your sports kit.

Every other half-decent town has a multi-functional leisure centre.

Then there is Sanders Park where the play area is situated in the coldest most inhospitable part of the park. This means that children instantly want the toilet which is, oh what a shock, over the other side of the park.

In the early Seventies the people in my village nearly had our land nicked (the George Wagstaff Memorial Meadow) so that more houses could be built.

Now in the last 12 months or so we've seen them put down some new slabs and paint all railings and lampposts black in Worcester Road and call it Bromsgrove village. It's an old market town - not a village.

The traders must be up in arms, they are all paying extortionate rents and then the council allows a French market in to clean up.

The lack of forethought is incredible, as is the fact that people actually take the trouble to go out and vote for them.

Mr D Carter,

Stourbridge Road,

Catshill.
