DROITWICH Spa CC First XI continued their erratic campaign with a our-wicket win and a losing draw over the holiday weekend.

Spa won by four wickets at Netherton on Saturday but were held to a losing draw at Ombersley on Bank Holiday Monday.

On Monday, Ombersley bowled first with openers Joe Robinson and Jeremy Sobey looking comfortable as they put on 75 for the first wicket.

The runs continued as the hosts' overseas professional Zaheer Saeed entering the fray but he was run out following excellent work by Spa wicketkeeper Steve Walsh.

Mike Rogers was the pick of the bowlers with 3-69 from 14 overs. Ombersley reached a respectable 186 all out.

In reply, the early wickets of Stuart Bryan, skipper Ian Duggan and Gary Cartwright with just 22 on the scoreboard meant victory was unlikely.

But with slow scoring and three more wickets falling, man of the match Steve Walsh and Mike Rogers were left to steady the ship to grind out an unbeaten seventh wicket partnership of 40.

Spa finished on 95-6 to collect six points when 20 were available.
