BROMSGROVE CC First XI continued their poor form in Birmingham and District Premier League division one on Saturday.

The Boars were soundly beaten by seven wickets at St Godwalds Park by Kenilworth Wardens.

It was Bromsgrove's fifth defeat on the bounce and left them rooted to the bottom of the league.

It also means Nick Husbands' side has made the same disastrous start to their league campaign as they did 12 months ago.

Batting first on a slow pitch, Bromsgrove failed to come to terms with the accurate seam bowling of Jordan and Henderson, each picking up a wicket.

Only Jamie Campbell (29) and Phil Hamilton (15 not out) showed any real resistance.

The introduction of Indian spinner Kotak saw off any other chance of recovery as he turned the ball on an already difficult pitch.

The Bromsgrove innings finally ground to a halt after 55 overs with a score on 114-8.

The Kenilworth reply was workman like. Skipper Dave Barr finished on 32no and 44 from Kotak ensured the runs flowed.

Henderson finished with 20 not out as the visitors claimed the victory with 16 overs remaining.

Paul Husbands returned bowling figures for Bromsgrove of 2-43.

Husbands was understandably frustrated with the club's fifth straight defeat of the season.

He said: "I was disappointed with Saturday for all the same reasons as previous weeks.

"It was difficult and they did bowl well - it just needed a couple to improvise but it didn't happen."
