UNTIL Bank Holiday Monday, there was little to split Barnt Green CC and Bromsgrove Cricket Clubs.

Not only were both clubs' First XI's bottom of their respective leagues but, last Saturday, both scored the same number of runs in losing at home by seven wickets.

Barnt Green, the basement side in Birmingham and District Premier League premier division, lost to Cannock while Bromsgrove were defeated by Kenilworth Wardens in division one.

Green, captained by Lyndon Jones, were skittled out for 114 without a single batsmen reaching 20 runs.

In reply, Cannock needed just 29.1 overs to reach their target for the loss of only three wickets.

Similarly, in Bromsgrove's match, Nick Husbands' side ended their allotted 55 overs on 114-8 and Kenilworth were home, losing three wickets in the process.

Of course, Bromsgrove's 101-run win at Bedworth on Bank Holiday Monday brought that symmetry to an end.

Unfortunately, Barnt Green were not given the chance to improve on their record as their league match at Halesowen on Bank Holiday Monday was postponed due to rain.

Both Green and Halesowen receive four points.
