WITH the now-recognised support by planning committee members and Councillors Jo Hodges, Paul Denham and Geoff Williams for Tesco developments, can we be surprised by reports (Evening News, May 25) regarding Tesco applying for 24-hour status at the St Peter's store.
There were amazing comments by Coun Jo Hodges such as "if you buy a house near a supermarket, football pitch or garage you should expect a certain amount of noise".
Of course, more local knowledge would have revealed that the majority of the houses on St Peter's were built before the arrival of Tesco, as were the houses surrounding the Spetchley Road area, which will also be affected by the arrival of superstores hiding themselves within the planning application for a football stadium.
And, I wonder, will we see the same support for any proposed developments for Middle Battenhall Farm?
