AFTER posting an impressive 71 last Thursday, Evesham golfer Jeremy Robinson missed out on another cut.

A level par score for 36 holes would have seen the 36-year-old into the final two days of the Victor Chandler British Masters at Woburn but, despite standing level par with six holes to play, Robinson lost his way with a trio of bogeys.

"I started badly and then got it back," he recalled. "I didn't hole any putts although I putted well and I didn't really feel good on the course."

Three birdies and a brace of bogeys, including one at the penultimate hole on the opening day, were followed by dropped shots at two of the opening four holes the following afternoon.

A birdie at the par five seventh got Robinson back on track but a succession of close shaves from within 20 feet of the pin left the Vale player hanging on for the cut mark of level par.

Disaster struck at 13 with a wayward drive into the trees and he did well to recover with a five to go one over for the tournament.

Robinson found a bunker at the next and then failed to roll in an eight-footer to save par. A third dropped shot at 15 virtually sentenced the Evesham player to an early return home.

"I have got to start playing better soon," he admitted, ahead of today's Compass Group English Open at The Forest of Arden.
