ROAD protesters are angry at plans for a new study into a bypass scheme near Belbroughton.
Midlands council leaders were due to meet in Birmingham today (Wednesday) to draw up guidelines for a Western Orbital bypass around Wolverhampton and Stourbridge.
The Campaign for the Protection of Rural England said studies had failed to justify the proposals but politicians could ignore the evidence and give the go-ahead to further reports into the scheme.
"It seems the countryside wreckers just won't lie down," said Gerald Kells of CPRE West Midlands.
Action group campaigner Peter Sturgeon, who has spent 14 years fighting road plans near his home in Belbroughton, said he was furious at the possibility of a further report. The Regeneration Conference was also due today to discuss possible widening of the M6 in Staffordshire.
