YOUNGSTERS at a village school celebrated the Queen's Golden Jubilee with a huge playground party.

Nearly 90 children from Hanbury First School, in School Road, gathered in their playground last Friday to join in the fun.

Traditional party food was on the menu and the four to nine-year-olds got to sample their own cakes, which they had made and decorated in red, white and blue.

The youngsters also paid £1 to throw custard, black beans and rice pudding at their headteacher, Elfyn Charles, who sat in a bath tub.

Teachers and pupils came in traditional English colours and even Droitwich Spa mayor, Terry Spencer, popped along to join in the fun.

School secretary Linda Weston said: "The Jubilee party was a great success. Lots of fun was had by all and we raised a considerable amount of money for school funds."
