A SPECIAL educational event to introduce youngsters to Jesus through worship is being held at Pershore Abbey.
Five primary schools in the Vale of Evesham are taking part in JC Today, which focuses on Jesus Christ and Christian worship and symbols.
The day will contribute to the Religious Education syllabus followed in primary schools.
Workshops include making altar frontals and working on drama, dance and song in groups.
The work, between 9.45am and 2.45pm next Monday, June 10, will then be incorporated into a Eucharist service led by the Vicar of Pershore, the Rev Canon Michael Tristram, and Curate, the Rev Margaret Jones.
Schools taking part include Badsey First School, Cherry Orchard First School, Elmley Castle CE First School, Fladbury CE First School, and Overbury CE First School.
"Last year, we were overwhelmed with interest from the schools taking part in this arts and worship project and we decided to have another series of days in 2002," said the Rev David Morphy, director of education for the diocese.
"The aim of the workshop days is to help children understand more about the person of Jesus through experiencing worship."
