LEOMINSTER MP Bill Wiggin is fighting for Worcestershire farmers concerned about bovine TB in their cattle.

Conservative Mr Wiggin, who recently led an adjournment debate in the Commons, has now put down an Early Day Motion to further challenge the Government.

The motion raises a number of issues, including the lack of an interim plan to deal with restricted farms.

The failure to test roadkill badgers - the animal is thought to infect cows - in infected hotspots outside trial areas and a lack of urgency in setting up better diagnosis and vaccination are also highlighted.

Mr Wiggin hopes that continuing to raise the profile of farmers worrying about the disease will force the Government to take action quickly.

"This cannot be allowed to become another foot-and-mouth-type epidemic," he said.

"Our farmers have suffered so much over the last few years. Now is the time to show them some support."
