WORCESTER travelled to Moseley to take on Attock in the Birmingham Cricket League Division One yesterday but fell foul of the weather.

With steady rain falling all day the umpires eventually abandoned the game at 2.30pm without a ball being bowled. Both sides claimed four points.

At the Gordon Jones Memorial Ground the second team had better luck when they entertained Wheaton Aston. After a delayed start they were able to play a 38-overs game and won easily by 108 runs.

The home side batted first and made a very useful 116-8 declared with skipper Roger Weston top scoring with 35. David Whittingham bowled well for the visitors taking 4-59.

Wheaton Aston's innings was a sorry affair as 15-year-old David Dunsdon claimed 5-5 to shoot out the visitors for a paltry 58. Worcester claimed 20 points to Wheaton Aston's three.

n Kidderminster had to settle for a losing draw in their Division One clash at Wellington.

Due to the weather the match was reduced to 30 overs a side.

Wellington batted well to score 189-4, Richard Wilkinson taking 2-79 in 11 overs, and Kidderminster could not get within winning distance, closing on 112-8 with Wilkinson hitting 32 and Mark Mansell 25.

Kidderminster took three points with Wellington claiming 11.

Meanwhile, play was possible on the second day of Herefordshire's Minor Counties Championship Western Division clash with Wales at Colwall because of rain.

Play was called off in mid-afternoon, so the sides were due to resume today with Wales on 7-1 in their first innings, in reply to Herefordshire's total of 348-6 declared.
