According to Peter Luff, who is backing an EDM on "real nappies", disposable nappies make up four per cent of domestic waste in the United Kingdom, with three billion being thrown away each year.

It is a frightening thought, and Peter is keen to congratulate the Real Nappy Campaign on its drive to encourage families, nurseries and hospitals to the traditional cotton version.
