SO New Labour is preaching again, this time in the guise of Councillor Geoff Williams (You Say, May 20).
As an Independent, I am happy to answer his questions.
It is the Government - Geoff's New Labour Government - that is forcing councils to sell their housing stock.
I fully support Worcester City Football Club and have actively campaigned for them to move.
Has Geoff conveniently forgotten who proposed the motion that refused the B&Q development? (Just to remind you Geoff, it was you!)
As a member of the planning committee Geoff knows full well that planning law and the code of conduct must be adhered to, so each application must be decided on its own merit; whether it is a superstore in St. John's or a dental practice in Beech Avenue.
As someone who witnesses petty crime and vandalism first hand, I ask Geoff not to insult the residents of Dines Green and Ronkswood. New Labour's promises on law and order will not put 13 extra police officers on the beat in Worcester.
Let's have less spin, fewer half truths and let's return to good old-fashioned socialism.
COLIN LAYLAND,
St John's, Worcester.
