SHARON Power writes she is heartily sick with asylum-seekers being given bad publicity (You Say, May 17).
She is among the many other people who do not distinguish between genuine asylum seekers and illegal immigrants. The latter are those who come into the country on the back of lorries or hidden among the rolling stock of the trains via the Tunnel.
The genuine asylum seekers should apply at the first free country they come to. From this point, there must be some means to apply to come to Britain.
But the Illegals should be sent back immediately, the same way they came. Instead of fining the lorry drivers and their companies, let the asylum seekers pay the return cost of transport.
Then there would be no need to desecrate the countryside in Throckmorton and the other places this Government has in mind to build extensive camps to house them.
