W H Forrester's letter (You Say, May 18) states that personal tax allowances of pensioners are set to increase next April.

I am afraid this is not the case for female pensioners aged 60-64 years. Their personal allowance will also be frozen, the same as those of working age.

I have written to my MP concerning this and he has taken this matter up with the Chancellor of the Exchequer. I urge all female pensioners who are affected by this to write to their MP.

Men receive the winter heating allowance at 60 years, so why shouldn't women receive the age- related tax allowance at 60?
