WORCESTERSHIRE golfer John Bickerton is equal seventh going into today's third round of the Volvo PGA Championship at Wentworth.
The Droitwich ace shot a fine four under par round of 68 yesterday, including an eagle three on the fourth hole, to take him on to 139, six shots adrift of the leader, Denmark's Anders Hansen.
Colin Montgomerie, meanwhile, was wondering what on earth could happen to him next after he went into the third round in joint second place on nine under par.
Montgomerie has four prolapsed discs in his lower back but despite the problem, he shot an opening 64 on Thursday to be three clear.
But after bogeying the 15th yesterday he leaked his drive at the 16th, striking Jonathan Edom, a spectator from Ascot, on the head and knocking him unconscious.
A concerned Montgomerie watched as Edom came round and shook him by the hand as he climbed into an ambulance.
But he bogeyed that hole and the 18th to hand Hansen pole position in the race for the £333,330 first prize.
