WORCESTERSHIRE Children's Information Service has become one of only three in the country to be given a national quality award.

The Guidance Council assessors decided the CIS met all the standards to be nationally accredited.

Assessors visited the Children's Information Service at the end of March to look at key areas of the service, which provides information on early years education, childcare and a range of other related services for children aged up to 14.

The service has recently expanded to offer information for those wanting to train or work in the childcare sector.

"We are delighted to have received this award," said Carol Leeson, children's information officer at Worcestershire County Council.

"Worcestershire Children's Information Service works to high standards and this award recognises the hard work and dedication of the whole team."
