THE headteacher of a Worcester school fighting for the right to smack its pupils is to appear on a televised debate.
As revealed in the Evening News, The River School wants to bring back the slipper for persistently disruptive pupils.
Tomorrow, Graham Coyle will tell Viewpoint Midlands why the court challenge has been mounted.
The school, on Droitwich Road, Fernhill Heath, went to the Court of Appeal on May 14 with 39 other Christian schools to bring back corporal punishment.
The judges agreed to reserve judgement and will publish their findings at a future date.
Also appearing on the live debate will be representatives from children's charity NSPCC, other teachers, parents and a pupil.
Viewers who want to have their say or put a question to the studio guests can call 0800 015 3033 or email viewpointmidlands@bbc.co.uk.
The programme will be broadcast live on Sunday on BBC2 at 1pm.
