NOMADS 1st XI's search for form continued this weekend, but the side was unable to find the formula against Cookley.

WORCESTER NOMADS v COOKLEY

Once again the opening pairing of Malcolm Jones and Simon Harris (58) provided the basis for a decent total, but beyond that Nomads struggled for runs. The fact that the second highest score was the extras account with 29 demonstrates the problem, so it was no surprise when Nomads finally fell for 158 in the 49th over.

DeVito took 4-18 and Harris 3-21.

In reply Cookley were steady in their pursuit of the target. Dixon made 35 and DeVito also proved useful with the bat as well as the ball as he made a vital 53. Glen Collins took some late wickets for 4-36, but it wasn't enough and Cookley completed the victory by four wickets with two overs left.

COOKLEY II v WORCESTER NOMADS II

AT Cookley, a rain-affected pitch made life interesting after water had seeped under the covers.

Invited to bat first as a result, Cookley posted a challenging total of 208-7. Cartwright was top scorer, with 62. Support largely came from Benbow with 42 and Pestridge with 26 before retiring hurt. Nomads bowling was better and left-arm seamer Joe Andrews the pick of the attack, with a thoroughly deserved 5-74. Williams chipped in with 2-52.

The top order again failed to lay the foundations and Jerry Matts with 40 and Lee Wilks with an excellent 49 took the attack to the opposition. The home side didn't really look penetrative, and both fell to aggressive, attacking strokes. Williams, with 26, and Kelly continued the charge, but the visitors fell short by 11 runs.

BEWDLEY v WORCESTER NOMADS III

A first win of the season for Nomads 3rds in an excellent team performance at Bewdley.

Nomads batted first and posted 196-8. Iain Brown 65, his first 50 for the club, Gary Sandbrook (30), Alex Isaacs (26) and Neil Harding (19).

Accurate spells from Ken Girling (3-31) and Gary Sandbrook (2-31) put Nomads on top, and despite father and son combo Matt and Dave Cowdrey (31 and 53no), Nomads won the game.
