NORTH Midlands have been forced to pick an entirely new back division for their Tetley's County Championship promotion play-off against Surrey at Esher tomorrow.

North Midlands missed out on automatic promotion when they were beaten 10-8 by Berkshire in the semi-finals of the County Championship Shield last weekend and they must now beat Surrey to clinch a place in the Championship proper next season.

But they sustained a number of injuries against Berkshire.

Pete Glackin, a replacement for the last three matches, will have his first start at full-back but the rest of the backs are new to the squad this season.

The pack remains largely unaffected and Tom Churchill, the Bromsgrove lock, has been passed fit after recovering from concussion in the group match against Dorset & Wilts three weeks ago.

North Midlands: Peter Glackin (Birmingham & Sol); Jason Goodwin (Birmingham & Sol), Allan Mitchel (Aston OE), Terry Finn (Aston OE), Chris Hares (Whitchurch); Jon Smart (Birmingham & Solihull), Adam Smallwood (Bridgnorth); Terry Sigley (Moseley), Alan Hubbleday (Birmingham & Soll), Rob Sigley (Stourbridge), Tom Churchill (Bromsgrove), Richard McCrainor (Birmingham & Sol), Jon Taylor (Bromsgrove), Jason Mellors (Stourbridge), James Hynes (Stourbridge). Replacements: Stuart Homer (Dudley Kings), Gareth Jones (Telford), Mark Eastwood (Stourbridge), Gavin Cattle (Birmingham & Sol) plus three more.
