AFTER climbing the UK's four highest peaks for charity last year, a 60-year-old Corse-based rally driver and his friend are now preparing to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

By climbing the 19,000 ft of Africa's highest peak, Bert Moffatt and Jean Cresswell hope to raise money for a three-year-old girl suffering from a rare degenerative condition called Sanfilippo.

The couple decided to form a trust for Jasmine Heap, the daughter of Bert's daughter's best friend, after she was diagnosed with the condition.

Sanfilippo affects one in 85,000 babies. There is no cure and the life expectancy is an average of 14 years.

Bert and Jean leave for Africa on June 22 and hope to complete the climb in five days.
