BARNARDS Green 1st XI again won comfortably in the WCL Division Three on Saturday against Himbleton and moved up to fourth spot in the league table.

BARNARDS GREEN v HIMBLETON

After heavy overnight rain the start was delayed by 45 minutes and the game was reduced to 44 overs .

Rich Williams again won the toss and with no hesitation asked Himbleton to bat on a wet wicket. Ian Scullion (2-12) bowled a superb opening spell, getting the ball to move appreciably both ways and was unlucky not to pick up more wickets.

The introduction of Judd Doughty (5-52) saw wickets start to fall at regular intervals. Paul Drinkwater took an excellent diving catch to hand Doughty his 5th wicket.

The Green fielded and bowled well, especially when reduced to 10 men due to a serious leg injury to T Clarke. Himbleton managed only 119-8 off their 44 overs.

Brian Hancock and Rich Williams got the Green off to a steady start before Williams was adjudged lbw with the score on 24. Hancock (22no) and the in-form Golder (22no) took the score to 58 before Hancock was struck on the jaw whilst at the non-strikers end after Golder had hit the ball powerfully back. Hancock was taken to hospital in an ambulance and the game's atmosphere was flattened.

However Golder and later Chris Hill (35no) with some aggressive strokes, saw the Green home to a fairly comfortable eight wicket win and 20 points.
