SOCCER stalwart Norman H Simmons was elected as a life member of the Malvern Football League at the league's annual general meeting held on Monday night.

Presently the chairman of the league, Norman has been associated with the league since the age of 13 when playing local football. He was delighted and proud to receive the award, voted by the club representatives, who, led by Talbot Head's David Benson and Kempsey United's Eric Bullock, made many tributes which were warmly applauded.

The presentation of a framed life membership certificate was made by the president David Gwynne during the evening.

Also receiving awards during the evening were James Seager and Matthew Gurney, joint managers of the Bull Allstars, who were voted winners of the Reg Box Manager of the Year award. They collected their trophy from league vice president Reg Box.

The Albert Lyndon Trophy, presented to the most sporting team of the season, was awarded to Kempsey United and secretary Eric Bullock received the award on behalf of the team, who finished third in the league, finalists in the Sunday Senior Cup and only received one on field caution all season, quite a feat and well worthy of the award.
