CATTLE could soon be grazing in Stocksyatt Meadow in Upton.
Town mayor Eric White told the annual town council meeting on Tuesday that the county council had pledged £1,550 over 10 years for its upkeep.
"We're trying to get some cattle on there but at the moment that's not going as well as we had hoped," he said.
Until recently known as Little Meadow, Stocksyatt Meadow has reverted to the name it was given centuries ago when stocks were used for punishment.
"It was the meadow nearest the toll gate, which was nearest the stocks," said Coun Simon Wilkinson.
The meadow is owned by the town council and is located to the right of the causeway going out of Upton toward Tunnel Hill. The money from the county council comes from a scheme to assist "small green areas."
