MATHON, Cradley & Storridge (MCS) Men's A team started their Hereford & Worcester Group Three campaign with an excellent 4-2 victory at home to Madley Tennis Club.
All the MCS pairs contributed to the victory. Steve Meredith & Alan Cooper won 6-2, 7-6 and lost 4-6, 6-4, 4-6. Duncan Hannaford & James Plant won their first rubber 6-1, 7-6 before losing the next match 6-7, 6-0, 4-6.
The victory was secured by the MCS number one pair of Mark Kavanagh & Dean Gibbard who won both their rubbers in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 and 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
The Mixed A team followed up their victory against Ledbury with another win at home to Bromwich Lane Tennis Club on Saturday.
Carol Dandy & Duncan Hannaford lost their opening rubber 5-7, 6-2, 2-6. Carol & Duncan won their second match convincingly 6-3, 6-1. The MCS pair of Janet Brown & Phil Toghill played some fine tennis in the damp overcast conditions winning both rubbers 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-4 to gain the match victory.
