MALVERN Girls' College students in the Lower 5 year group have been awarded the Hereford & Worcester Shield for Life Support & for Life Saving.
As part of the syllabus for PE, girls take the Royal Life Saving Society's award for resuscitation called the Life Support.
Some can also choose to take the water test called the Bronze Medallion, which involves life saving in the water, getting out of difficulty in the water, helping two people and getting them out of the water, as well as treatment for shock.
Last year's group did exceptionally well in that all girls who took both examinations passed them, which has resulted in an award from the Royal Life Saving Society.
"This is a very important part of the PE curriculum and gives the girls a very useful life skill which they take very seriously, which is reflected in their examination success," said Mrs Jane Smallwood, Head of PE at the College.
