A PAIR of jesters will take walkers on an historical tour around Bromyard on Saturday, June 1, as part of the Herefordshire Festival of Walking.

Entertainer and historian Henry Carson will lead the way along a two and a half mile free trail through the town and Frome Valley.

On Sunday, June 2, the festival offers a 16-mile long-distance trail past ancient hill forts between Leominster and Bromyard (£2.50 for coach).

Bat lovers will be able to see the bats at Lower Brockhampton from 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Sunday, June 2, as they take a short walk around the grounds with bat detectors.

The event is free and bookings should be made with Rebecca Collins on 01989 750790.

Also on the Sunday children can join two scavenger hunts run by Scout leaders on Bromyard Downs.

Other events planned include a railway ramble today (Friday) from Ledbury, The Martin Brent Walk tomorrow in Colwall, a ramble into the past in Much Marcle on Thursday and a look at the camps on Herefordshire Beacon and Midsummer Hill on June 1.
