A SPECIAL Pentecost Praise service was held at St Mary's Church, Madresfield last Sunday evening to celebrate the creating and re-creating Spirit of God. Led by the Rev David Nichol, the service comprised hymns and readings on the theme of the Holy Spirit. Readings from Genesis, through the prophets to the Gospels, Epistles and the Book of Revelation were read by Margaret Tarr, Thea Wild, Elizabeth Palmer, Helen Simpson and Tricia Cooke. The combined choirs from Madresfield, Guarlford and Powick sang the anthem come Holy Ghost by Thomas Attwood and God is a Spirit by Sterndale Bennett, conducted by Margaret Tarr. The organist was Carlton Tarr.
On Sunday Evensong will be held at the Chapel at Madresfield Court at 6.30pm.
A Jubilee picnic for all the family is being held at Cherry Orchard, Rectory Lane, Guarlford (by kind permission of Dr Peter Mayner) on Tuesday, June 4. The event begins at 5pm and will include games for all ages and a Grand Jubilee draw. Bring your own food, drink and glasses and a chair!
