THE efforts made by the British Army and the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters have been met by mixed reaction from the Kenyan army.

The chief of the Central Division, Moses Nyachiro, at first berated Captain Rob Brown for going straight to the street children.

He seemed annoyed that the Army hadn't asked for his permission to give charity to the street children.

The Army's greatest fear is that donations won't always reach those for whom they're intended.

When Chief Naychiro spoke to me, his opinion had changed.

"The British Army are wonderful," he said. "If it wasn't for their good co-operation, I think you wouldn't be here.

"I think these kids will have benefited. We wouldn't have got to know more about the problems of the street children.

"I support the effort of the British Army. When they come here, there are so many good things they do. "They ensure some have benefited, like the things they're doing now."
