CRICKET: Six-wicket Gary Mills superbly exploited the conditions with the ball to help earn Stourport maximum Worcestershire League Division Two points.

They racked up their first win on Saturday after being asked to bat first in a rain-affected match reduced to 43 overs.

Neil Bailey(17) and Neil Wildgust (26) saw off the early attack before perishing in consecutive overs with the former unluckily run out.

Dave Cook then top scored with 29 and Ian Delo made 21 but Stourport never looked comfortable on the damp wicket and were bowled out for 137 in the last over.

The home batsmen found conditions no easier and Mills finished with 6-56, helped by Delo (2-20).

Rob Francis defied the visitors with a belligerent 68 not out but Stourport held their nerve to triumph by 20 runs.

Stourport 137, Malvern 117.

The seconds crushed Malvern by nine wickets at Walshes Meadow with John Downes and John Shackleton the star men.

Skipper Andy Goddard (3-38) was soon amongst the wickets with excellent support from Matt Roberts and Martin Brewer.

But the introduction of the in-form Downes (5-29) reduced the visitors to 132 all out.

The Stourport batsmen had few problems in reply, Steve Davis the only man out for a brisk 28.

Shackleton (54 not out) and Bryan Colley (40 not out) were in charge as the home side romped home in only the 24th over.
