CHADDESLEY Corbett kept up the pressure on Worcestershire League Division One leaders Old Elizabethans with a 33-run win over Luctonians.

Despite scoring just 126 all out, Chaddesley got away with the 24 points after dismissing their Herefordshire opposition for only 93.

There was no hint of the collapse to come as Chaddesley raced to 52-1 in the 13th over.

Matt Boden (31) and Mark Edward (34) struck the ball well on the hard, bouncy wicket.

But gradually Michael Jeh and Martin Pledge tied the pair down and after Boden's dismissal the innings almost ground to a halt.

A last-wicket 29 between Nick White and Paul Connolly enabled Chaddesley to pass the century with the former run out in the last over.

Luctonians appeared nervous and their aggressive approach backfired as Andy Elbro, with two wickets, and Connolly profited from reckless batting.

At 49-5, they continued to play their shots but two run-outs contributed to their downfall.

Even Kevin Truswell's fourth dropped catch in as many games was not costly.

Connolly took the final wicket in the 39th over to finish with 4-23.

Chaddesley Corbett 126, Luctonians 93.

After a disappointing start to the season, Chaddesley seconds gained their first win against young Luctonians.

They won the toss and put the opposition into bat with Tom Boden and Chris Kelly bowling economically.

T Boden gained the early breakthrough with a sharp return catch but the next wicket did not fall until the 23rd over through Sam Boden.

As Luctonians tried to push on, Chaddesley's fielding was terrible as five catches were put down but S Boden continued to bowl well for his 5-77.

In reply, Chaddesley lost both openers but this brought together Grenville Wilson and Martin Grange who plundered 120 in 20 overs.

Wilson was dismissed for 52 when the scores were level but Grange hit the winning runs two balls later to finish unbeaten on 83.

Luctonians 174, Chaddesley Corbett 175-3.
