A STRONG bowling attack denied Kidderminster the chance of a win at home to strugglers Attock in Birmingham League Division One.

The Wyre Forest side dismissed their opponents for 206 all out but were left stranded on 189-6 after 55 overs, leaving them with eight points from a losing draw.

Bowlers Mahmood and Iqbal (5-53) were the key men for the visitors who lifted themselves off the bottom of the table.

Skipper Sean Lloyd admitted: "We didn't quite bat as well as we can do and I'm disappointed."

KCC, who remain in fifth position, won the toss for the third match in a row and forced Attock to bat.

The home side's teenage opening attack of Ted Baylis and Andrew Siwicki made superb use of the overs they were allowed.

Siwicki conceded just 14 runs in five overs, while former England schoolboy international Baylis (2-49) took the wickets.

He quickly removed the first batsman and the number three to make it 2-2 before running out the other opener in the ninth over.

The arrival of Mahmood heralded a revival for Attock but another young player Joe Hill removed his partner for just 7.

Attock reached 100 in the 29th over but KCC overseas star Mandeep Singh (5-61) broke up the sixth wicket partnership as it reached 89.

Singh also had Mahmood caught by Lloyd, stuck again with an LBW decision and dismissed Hussein (63) thanks to a good Steve Davies stumping.

The Indian was to strike again before the visitors' innings was over when slow bowler Mark Mansell took the final scalp via a fine catch by Matt Fludgate.

KCC had a good total to chase though the wicket was perhaps slower than for the previous week's victory over Bromsgrove.

But they had a bad start when openers Davies and Mansell were out for just 2 and 8 respectively.

In stepped Gurdeep Kandola, fresh from a century for Worcestershire's seconds in the week, to steady the ship with Singh.

However, prolific medium pacer Iqbal was the thorn in the KCC side, claiming Singh for 25 and Fludgate cheaply on top of the openers.

KCC, now on 69-4, were given a glimmer of hope by Kandola and Baylis' 70-partnership.

But Baylis was well caught hooking to the boundary for 38 and Kandola was soon stumped for a comfortable 56.

Lloyd, needing a runner after being struck on the leg by the ball fielding, did not let the problem faze him.

The captain, joined by Chris Pyke, survived the last seven overs though a draw was always on the cards with 57 runs required.

They added 39 with Lloyd on 17 and Pyke on 19 when a good game ended in a losing draw.

Attock 206, KCC 189-6.

The seconds slipped up with a big Premier Division 10-wicket defeat against Wolverhampton.

They were point-less after their 81 all out was easily caught by the opposition.

KCC 2nds 81, Wolverhampton 83-0.

KCC's young thirds slipped to a two-wicket defeat at Stourbridge Social in a thrilling Worcestershire League Division Six finale.

Asked to bat first on a wet and slow pitch, they posted 151-8 but paid for their inability to accelerate the score in the last 10 overs.

Their total was mainly thanks to a stylish 48 from Stuart Logan and gritty 37 by Ryan Gethins.

Social struggled to win by two wickets with only one over left.

Bowling aces for KCC were 16-year-old Derek Cadwallader, who returned 4-30 on his debut, and Andy Logan's hostile 2-25.

The visitors again impressed in the field with Lee Daniels and A Logan taking excellent catches.

KCC 3rds 151-8, St'bridge Social 152-8.
