The principle of a Giant One Stop Shop in Evesham, having as many services as possible under one roof, is a good one, but I question whether the police station site in Abbey Road is the right one.

Disregarding for the the moment the rights and wrongs of accepting, without continuing to fight, the total closure of Evesham Magistrates Court, the site is a considerable distance from the town centre.

The same arguments about accessibility apply to this court room site apply as did - and do - those regarding the re-siting of the post office from its High Street location to the far end of the Riverside Shopping Centre. Both are a long way from the town centre, particularly for the elderly and vulnerable, the very people most likely to want to use a One Stop Shop.

Has the possibility of using the former post office site for the One Stop Shop been considered? The County Court offices are already there and Evesham and Pershore Housing Association offices on the other side of the road. A One Stop Shop there might even encourage Consignia to reconsider and make post office facilities available in that area again.
