Will I vote "yes" for the Euro? I think not! Most people I meet don't seem to realise the very serious implications of "joining the Euro", and what we would lose, for ever, by changing.

For instance, we would be handing over all, yes all, our gold reserves from the Bank of England! Our "piggy bank" savings collected the hard way over many years. How much exactly I don't know, but it is "serious" money! Billions and billions! Gone, for ever, into the European melting pot for distribution to "the poorer countries" in the EU.

Maybe there is nothing wrong in that, but no wonder they are queuing up to join "our club"! They will all be net beneficiaries, only Germany and us are net contributors.

Changing the money in your pocket and purse is the easy bit, that will only cost £36 billion! It's the "baggage" that comes with the Euro that is so important. Total surrender to the European (unelected) Parliament, and our loss of national identity, (a clearly, stated aim of the EU, all set out in print), and we also lose our ability to govern ourselves, that's what hurts.

You only have to read the papers, or talk to your friends in Europe, to discover that, already, at this early stage, they are not very happy with the whole set-up, But for them it's too late, they are in it, by any sense of the word!

How many people know that the BBC will be run from Brussels in a year or two? So will the French, German and all the other broadcasting stations in Europe. They want the lot, and I am not a happy bunny!

To me, the best thing about this green and pleasant land, is 22 miles of water off the South Coast! Let's keep it that way!
