PERSHORE remained unbe-aten in the first division of the Worcestershire County League but lost their opening match in the Sunday Clubs League.

All-rounder Leon Botha, who skippered the side last Sunday, was again in tremendous form, hitting an unbeaten 61 in the eight-wicket defeat of Ombe-rsley and then taking 4-32 from nine overs in Feckenham's successful Sunday pursuit of 179.

Captain Trevor Ridings asked Ombersley to bat first and, following an opening stand of 49, the visitors lost five quick wickets to slump to 73-5 after 27 overs.

However, Young and Yardley added 72 but their dismissals prompted another collapse with Martin Johnson claiming 3-73 in an all out total of 173.

Lea Hawkes and John Bro-okes made a steady reply and the run chase had been reduced by 56 when Botha joined Phil Oxley.

The third wicket pair experienced few problems in steering Pershore to victory with Oxley ending unbeaten on 37.

Botha elected to take first strike 24 hours later but all of the batsmen, with the exception of Hawkes (63) and Steve Meers (31) struggled against a steady Feckenham attack.

The 45 overs realised a total of 178-6 and that target was soon within reach as openers Potgieter and Fletcher added 62.

Wickets then tumbled at regular intervals with Botha the main threat but a lusty knock of 28 from Davidson guided the visitors to the points with three overs remaining.
