LOCAL clubs continue their quest for glory in national competitions on two different fronts on Sunday.

It's the area quarter-finals of the National Village Championship, while the ECB National Club Knockout competition has reached the same stage.

In the ECB competition for the bigger clubs, there is no Lord's final this year as the ground is unavailable, but a short trip to Edgbaston instead on Thursday, September 5 should be incentive enough for the Worcestershire survivors.

Worcester and Bromsgrove both face stiff tasks - Worcester away to Birmingham League Premier Division side Barnt Green, while at St Godwald's Park, Bromsgrove entertain Old Hill who are past winners of the competition.

Kidderminster look to have the easiest task on paper, with Division Two East side Water Orton visiting Chester Road.

The national village final remains at Lord's, however, on Sunday, September 1.

In the Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Powys area quarter-finals, arguably the pick of the ties sees Colwall - national quarter-finalists last year and regional champions for the last three seasons - travel to Cookley, the only Worcestershire side to win the competition back in 1977.

There's an evenly-matched tie at Jury Lane where Martley take on Feckenham - both play in the Worcestershire County League Division Two - while at Longmore, Chaddesley Corbett take on Eastnor, both of whom have reached the national quarter-finals in the past.

The other match is an all-Herefordshire contest at Mortimer Park between Luctonians and Brockhampton.
