A TEENAGER was assaulted after suffering an asthma attack while trying to escape a gang of youths chasing him through Kidderminster town centre.

The boy, in his mid teens, was cycling near Yates' in Oxford Street at 9.10pm on Wednesday, May 15 when he was stopped by three youths.

One claimed the teenager's bike was his before the victim cycled off past Safeway and through the subway into Comberton Hill, where asthma halted him in his tracks.

He was then hit by two of the youths, who had pursued him, before he hit one of them back and escaped again.

The three were white males. One was 6ft 2ins, 18 to 20, of medium build with straw coloured hair in "curtains" style on a Y-framed mountain bike.

The other two were about 5ft and rode BMX bikes. One was slim to medium build with black hair and a "wobbly" left eye, wearing dark clothes, while the other had dark shaven hair.

Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly two teenage girls who asked the gang to leave the boy alone, to contact them on 01562 820888.
