A KIDDERMINSTER man who defrauded the Social Security department of more than £4,000 has been sent to prison for four months by Kidderminster magistrates.
He made repeated declarations, over six years, concealing a Worcestershire County Council pension of up to £219 a month, the court was told.
Terence Hudson, 54, of Dowles Road, Kidderminster, admitted making false claims for benefit.
He had drawn an early retirement pension since 1995, said James Rogers, prosecuting for the DSS
On none of his applications for benefit did he declare his pension. He was paid £4,355 he should not have had.
Hudson had no previous convictions, said his solicitor, Gary Harper.
He had debts of £5,000 as well as the overpayment the Benefits Agency would reclaim from him.
Hudson had declared all the work he did after his early retirement.
The magistrates refused Mr Harper's application for bail pending an appeal against sentence.
