A PATRIOTIC punter is set to scoop £100,000 if England win the World Cup.
The man shocked Kidderminster betting shop staff after laying £10,000 in cash on Sven Goran Eriksson's team to win the tournament next month.
He laid the bet at the Blackwell Street premises of William Hill at odds of 9-1 and stands to pick up the massive sum if England win the tournament in Japan and South Korea.
Shop manager Stuart Wood said: "Business is steadily building up as the tournament gets closer but this came as a bit of a bolt from the blue. The man was a stranger to us but he seemed pretty confident.
"It was even more of a surprise when he paid in cash - all in £50 and £20 notes."
Mr Wood said most punters were putting their money on joint favourites France and Italy at 4-1 but one of the more speculative bets had been laid by a customer last week.
Mr Wood said: "I think he was Turkish and he put £50 each way on Turkey's Hakan Sukur to finish top goalscorer for the tournament at 66-1.
"He stands to win more than £3,000 if he is right - but he will still get more than £600 if Sukur finishes in the top four."
