VISITORS Hewell batted the overs out to restrict Stone to a winning draw in the Worcestershire League Division Five.

Openers Adrian Blackledge and Dean Aldridge put on 107 for the first wicket after Stone were invited to bat.

Aldridge was caught for 52 but Pete Glover helped push the score along to 223-4 off the 39 overs available.

Blackledge, continuing his rich vein of form, reached a superb unbeaten 100.

Pete Durnell struck early for the home side and reduced Hewell to 35-3 after 10 overs.

Jones steadied the innings with a 47-partnership with skipper Sutton (51 not out) and although Matt Tyrrell took three quick wickets, the visitors managed to bat the overs out with two wickets to spare.

Pete Durnell (4-26) and Tyrrell (3-26) were Stone's most successful bowlers.

Stone 223-4, Hewell 135-8.

Stone's Sunday side returned to winning ways with only nine men at home to Belbroughton.

They lost the toss but openers Simon Drew and Paul Briggs scored 64 before Briggs was out lbw.

Drew and Jamie Batsford (57) added 64 for the fourth wicket before the former was bowled for a good 74.

In reply, Stone took wickets at regular intervals and reduced the visitors to 82-7 after only 20 overs.

But Doolittle (95), assisted by the tail-enders, helped them to 68 runs short of the target with Nigel Potter taking 4-45 and Nick Powell 3-16.

Stone 204-5, Belbroughton 136.
