ACTING captain Mark Bennett's 89 not out was one of the few highlights for Bewdley in a two-wicket defeat to Feckenham in Worcestershire League Division Two.

Bewdley, forced to bat first in a match reduced to 47 overs by rain, started well with Bennett and Ben Jones putting on a 51 opening partnership.

But several batsmen were dispatched quickly as Bennett batted on to leave the field undefeated 11 short of a century.

Dean Wilkes gave him late support with 14 not out as the home side reached 165-6.

Feckenham's reply stuttered as Jason Taylor (3-51) and Scott Fowler enjoyed early successes but, at 39-3, Kings turned the game round for the visitors.

Wickets fell regularly at the other end and Bewdley looked to be in with a chance when Kings fell at 152-6 but Fletcher saw Feckenham through.

Bewdley 165-6, Feckenham 166-8.

High-flying Bewdley seconds fell to their first league defeat as new leaders Feckenham won by five wickets.

They lost too many wickets when trying to force the pace with Robert Combes the best of the early batsmen despite running out Colin Harris.

Cyril Ramsey batted well later on but ran out of support before Feckenham rashly slipped to 53-3 in reply.

Bewdley dropped too many catches as an 83 fourth-wicket partnership hit them hard and captured two quick wickets when it was too late.

Young bowlers Mike Harris (2-24) and Andy James (2-35) performed well.

Bewdley 2nds 143, Feckenham 144-5.

Bewdley Cavaliers lost to Worcester Nomads in the Third Teams League despite Dave Cowdray's 53 not out.

Worcester Nomads 196-8, Bewdley 150.

Bewdley were in fine batting form against Codsall, declaring at 205-2 in the 37th over, but the visitors claimed victory.

Ramsey and N Ross' bright opening stand was built on when David Mills joined the latter for a century partnership.

Mike Harris hit out briskly to see the score past 200 and then Codsall lost a wicket to Steve Odell in the first over.

They saw the score into the 90s before two wickets fell to Paul Edwards' spin but another good stand took them closer.

Sherratt's dismissal brought a collapse too late for Bewdley who had to concede the friendly in the penultimate over after bowling 10 more overs than their visitors.

Bewdley 205-2, Codsall 206-6.
