A SOLID team display brought Cookley back to winning ways in Worcestershire League Division Two with a victory over Worcester Nomads.

Put in to bat, Nomads began well but the introduction of Paul Harris (3-21) and Phil Divito (4-18) accompanied by four superb John Blakeley catches saw them collapse to 157 all out.

Cookley reached home with four wickets to spare thanks largely to 53 from Divito, ably supported by veteran Phil Dixon (35).

They aim to build on the result with Saturday's first competitive match against local rivals Bewdley for a few years.

And, in a big weekend for the club, they entertain Colwall in the National Village Knock-out Cup third round on Sunday.

Worcester Nomads 157, Cookley 158-6.

It was a much closer game at Lea Lane where Cookley's Paul Cartwright was once again in sparkling form.

Cartwright's 62 helped the seconds to a total of 208 and Ian Benbow gave him excellent support with 42.

In a tense finish, Nomads ended up with 197-7 in reply which gave Cookley a winning draw.

Cookley 208, Worcester Nomads B 197-7.
